Corn

It was really nice to see how the corn market showed a lot of strength in the face of adversity last week when the stock market was having a seizure. This is the kind of steadiness that we have come to expect from grain markets over the years, but was noticeably absent a year ago. We are long corn as a hedge against our feed costs for the cattle we own on the hoof. If the agricultural commodities as a group can show this kind of uniform behavior when other markets are bursting apart at the seams, these ag markets should generate a great deal of interest from the big money managers.
